Town Meeting

Jackson never fails to make us laugh every single day.  He’s very literal and sometimes this charming quality can be quite funny.  Jackson’s third grade class has been practicing for their Town Meeting presentation all week.  They would be sharing some of the interesting things they’ve been learning this year to oh just the entire school community.  And parents, did I mention the parents? Gulp!

Since Jackson would be playing the part of a newscaster, he informed us two days prior to said event that he would be wearing a suit and tie to school.  Huh?  *mama furiously throws sweat pant after sweat pant over her shoulder searching in vain for a child’s size ten suit in closet*  Jeff couldn’t for the life of him figure out why I wandered around the house singing “Ice, ice baby….” at the mere thought of an impending ice storm.  And score!  Never underestimate the power of Mother Nature.

A few extra days to practice was just fine and dandy.  Suit and tie… check!  Lines read in serious newscaster voice without looking at script… check!  Awesome suggestion from daddio… check!  “Hey, Jackson, why don’t you wear a pair of my old eye glasses with the lenses taken out?  Don’t you think that would make for an awesome newscaster?  I think it would be pretty funny.”

Jackson stared at Jeff and shook his head very seriously, “Why would I ever do that?  I don’t even wear glasses.”

Well no, you don’t really wear glasses kid, but you don’t really wear a suit and tie to school every day either.  What do we know?

PS.  The kids nailed it!  Town Meeting was awesome today!

PSS.  Sport coat returned unworn.  Check.  Sigh.

I love, love the picture of your husband helping Jackson tie his tie. This is the sort of image I had in my head when we were expecting…those classic dad-son moments. Love.
